Kohala/Hamakua Coast Helicopter Tour - Sunshine Helicopters

The Big Island of Hawaii is more than twice the size of all the other Hawaiian Islands put together. It's home to the world's most active volcano, black san beaches, the best marlin waters anywhere, one of the country's largest privately owned cattle ranches, Hawaii's best hunting, the state's only snow skiing and the state's largest orchid farm. enroute to the birthplace and home of Kamehameha, the shoreline of North Kohala is etched with historical sites and beach parks that tourists rarely visit. Like Anaehoomalu and Hapuna beaches, spacious Spencer Beach Park at the base of the Kohala Mountains is another wide swath of white sand beach. Honokaa, the major town on the Hamakua Coast, has only 2,500 residents. It still feels like the 1920's with a main street Honokaa consists of false-front buildings and local stores with a smattering of shops catering to tourists. Honokaa has one of the world's largest macadamia nut growing areas where Hawaii's macadamia nut industry started here.
